Planning for Your Maternity Session

I'm sure everyone can agree that one of the hardest things about planning for a new photo session is picking your outfits. I know when my boyfriend, Matt and I did a couple session last fall it took a while to figure out what to wear. I wanted it to be perfect, and of course we had to match! I want to share with you some helpful tips for planning for a maternity session in particular.
1. Plan your maternity shoot for the best time in your pregnancy.
Schedule your maternity photo shoot around 7 months into your pregnancy, this is when you will be feeling and looking the best. If you wait any later than that you might be very uncomfortable during the session.
2. Always wear something that is flattering to you and is slimming. BLACK is a slimming color for sure!
3.Stick with solid colors, It will focus the attention on your belly. Also avoid floral prints, plaid and stripes.
4. Wear dresses that show your belly off! Stick with more fitting and stretchy clothes. Tight dresses for example. Most importantly wear something that is comfortable
5. Set your outfit out the day before so you know what you are going to wear and that will be less stress for you the day of.
6. Bring some props from home, of course the belly is the main focus but we want to incorporate other things as well in your session. Ex. Ultra Sound, shoes, blocks, clothing, etc.
Here are a few examples of props I've had clients bring before, super cute!

Let me know if these tips were helpful for you, to plan your maternity session. I would love to schedule your maternity session with you, have I mentioned that maternity photography is my favorite? It is! I'm planning some new things with my maternity sessions, I can't wait! I would love to hear from you!
Xoxo,
Taylor
